Default Another "Is it an external mod?" Question

Hey all,

This will probably sound like a stupid questions...but do you believe it would be an "external mod" to use tape as an aperture hood in lieu of an actual hooded aperture?

Thanks.

It shouldn't be. A real hooded aperture, of course, is going to be better. That and the issue aperture size is pretty large.

I think it depends on the type of match you are going touse it in. NRA OTC, CMP EIC, local match no problem. CMP as-issued M1 match at perry not so much.

Good Luck,

Tom

Thanks for the replies. I'm referring to CMP EIC matches.

With a base ball cap to keep direct sun off the rear aperture, I never felt at a disadvantage having a non hooded aperture. I think if you put tape over the sight assembly for shade, you could get called that it is an external mod.
