Default NAVMC Tag on a Field Grade SA

Guys,
A friend of mine purchased a Springfield Field Grade that had a matching NAVMC tag on it but having some trouble reading the location information on the tag.
I am hoping one of you jarheads may understand what it is saying.

First an overall view:

[IMG][/IMG]

OK, so December 18th 1964 and belonging to the 1st Inf Training Reg.

This is the location information. It is stamped twice on teh tag as you can see:

[IMG][/IMG]

The top line seems to reference Ord Maint Co MS&N Bn
The second line 2d FSR. CLNC

Anyone know the meaning of the above?

Rob

Yeah..names have changed over the decades...that was my old unit a few decades ago..lol

While I was there it was FSSG

Support
Group

Or as I liked to say...Fumbles Stumbles Shits and Giggles....

However back then it was Material Supply & Maintenance Bn.

Jeremy,
Thanks for your input which is cool especially from someone that was there at one time.

So now it appears we have:

Ordnance Maintenance Company
Material Supply & Maintenance Bn
2nd Force Service Regiment
Camp Lejeune, Nc

This all sounding right?

Rob

Tom, Guys,
Thanks for all the help.
I don't speak or read Marine shorthand so was really struggling with this.
I have a similar tag on a 4.66 HRA but the tag is not in as good condition as my buddies.

Default Similar tag on 4.66 HRA

Guys,
This is the tag that was on my 4.66 HRA. As you can see it is not in as great condition as my buddies but still has some interesting information.
First it looks to have been also from Camp Legeune but just a couple years later and the tag format has changed just a bit. It was also used by the 1st Infantry Training Regiment.

[IMG][/IMG]

Quite a list of problems with this rifle:
- Excessive Breech Bore (probably explains why it currently has a new-looking SA 43 barrel on it)
- Missing Front Sight
- Missing Stacking Swivel
- Cracked lower Handguard
- Cracked stock

All the above problems look to have been corrected at some point in the past.

Lower down it has a box checked that seems to imply that the rifle could not be repaired at this facility

It also has a stamp indicating 5TH ECHELON. Anyone knows what that means?

thanks guys for the additional help understanding these tags

Rob

5th echelon is high level organization capable of major overhaul of equipment, if my memory is serving me correctly.

You are correct...5th echelon would mean sending it MCLB Albany , Ga for complete rebuild.

If the rifle was repaired the tag should have been removed before storage/reissue.
