Default Question regarding Navy 7.62

What is the background in a cmp papered b/r mk2 mod1? Are they leftover navy trophy b/r that the navy didnít need? What is the difference between those and a complete navy mk2 mod1? How can i tell if its a cmp b/r built parts gun or a navy rebuild?

If you have the CMP COA it will say...MK2 MOD1 Barreled Receiver.
At least for the three that I have.....

I would assume any "Navy" MK2 MOD1 complete rifle has been built from parts until proven otherwise with gub'ment paperwork.

I would also assume that any MK2 MOD1 is a fake until proven otherwise with CMP cert/bill of sale and a close inspection of the barrel markings.

There are several folks here on the forum that can help verify authenticity if you require it. Many of us have built MK2 MOD1s.

CDR Jim Adell is the foremost expert on Navy rifles. Here is some light reading for you as well: http://thecmp.org/wp-content/uploads/762Garand.pdf

Good luck in your search. The MOD1s are a blast to shoot and habit-forming.

I understand the mod1 grade A/B are all trophy rifles, all match conditioned with numbered stock, nm sights etc... did the navy produce any non match, service grade complete rifle? Is my option finding a navy m1: 1) cmp b/r and build one up, or 2) a match conditioned grade A/B? Is there anything in between?
