Default Bolt Rifles at North Store?

Just curious on the current state of 1917's / Krags at the N.S. Are there any Springfields of any kind left?

I was there Saturday afternoon. No Springfield bolt actions. There was a full rack of 1917s -- all Eddystone. External appearance was good on most. Some were marked OK headspace. I did not look at the bores. There was a partial rack of Krags -- all chromed. Most had been shortened, and most were incomplete. There was one Krag that appeared complete and was marked OK headspace, which had not been shortened. The bore looked frosty.

Main real problem I saw with the chromed Krags was no front sight. I picked up an '03 front sight to put on mine - hopefully get it chromed before I do. They look sharp - parade rifles, after all. You'll look good doing your daily exercise manual of arms with it. I'll be finding out how well my chrome one shoots in a week or so. I think you have to hit the south store to get the un-chrome models. And they've all been picked through for months now.

I was there this past Saturday. Ended up buying a 1917 with "ok headspace" and muzzle reading of 2. Wood and metal were in good condition. Just took a bore light to it yesterday and I was definitely surprised on how good it looked.
