You might wait for the weekly store reports, starting tomorrow. Those will be the most up to date.

Call the North Store on Thursday afternoon before they close and find out what they will have on the racks before you make the trip. I always do that since I have a 5 and a 1/2 hr trip from Pa to the store. The guys are always helpful . they will let you know what they have.

Is a Wednesday morning arrival a bad idea, assuming there is nobody there to speak with on Tuesday when they are closed?

It beats not going. I drove up last Wednesday. See my report here:
http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=65374

No guarantees of course as to what they'll have but, I would have been happy with 90% of the SG's I looked at.

I try for wed opening time myself. Its not like the counter guys are going to go through every rifle on the racks. They may tell ya approx. # of HRA-SA SG on the rack at that time. When it comes down to it..It's a better roll of the dice than mail order to make your drive. JMHO

I can't speak for NS but at SS if slots are empty in the racks, if asked (and they are not overwhelmed with other stuff) and more of that classification are ready "out back" to come in, they'll bring them out. I've even seen Leon do it even when no one asked!
