You're kidding, right? I guess you also believe in the tooth fairy, or that elected officials don't need to be carefully scrutinized lest they forget who it is they serve.

Okay, let's review:

Mr. Johnson serves at the pleasure of the Board, and the Board's job, or part of it, is to listen to and serve the tariff-paying constituency who each year fulfills the CMP's mission - that's us, the shooting participants in the Nat'l Matches & other CMP-related competitive shooting events.

Neither the members of the CMP board nor Mr. Johnson exist or serve in a vacuum. Even the CMP's mission doesn't self-operate in a vacuum. We - the DCM/CMP shooters - make, and since 1907 at Camp Perry have made, the Nat'l Matches the proud and exceptional American tradition that they are.

So, yes, you can be assured that the various Bd members will be hearing from me directly regarding the issue of the possible closure of the NS, as well as on any other issue or contemplated decision by Mr. Johnson that might, in my view, adversely effect the annual holding of the Matches at Camp Perry.

Herewith ends the sermon.
Trying to understand how closing the North Store would affect the National Matches. I'm not in favor of closing the North Store, but don't see a connection.

Are you saying that if the North Sore closed no one would attend the National matches? I would respectfully disagree with that.

+1 -- Thank You Steelap.....................

I didn't say major changes are or would be pending or even necessary. And I've said too that Mark (or anyone else for that matter) should be given an chance to settle in and make some decisions for himself before the hating comes out..........

And I've stated earlier and so agree with you that people are getting all worked up over rumors and guesses over what Mark may or may not do. This even though Mark has said nothing yet about the direction he wants to take the CMP...........

I have no plans of closing the North or South stores, although it has been discussed. At such time when the rifles run out the stores will most likely become accessory, ammunition, and memorabilia based for the CMP / shooting community. I have attended the National Matches at Camp Perry every year since 2000, and enjoy competing in the matches when time permits. We plan to have the National Matches at Camp Perry for at least another 100 years or so. It is my personal mission to hold more events in more places, not less. We are moving forward, not standing still or backing up.

Mark, congratulations and good luck in your new position.
Thanks for clearing up all the talk of closings, etc.. Perhaps now the rumor mill can take a break and we can all breath a sigh of relief. Brian
