Default Need Clarification regarding NICS Delays

I get frequent NICS delays. So I applied for, and received a UPIN.

I bought a rifle. I used my UPIN. I still received a delay. Of course, they won't tell me why because of "the Privacy Act of 1974" which is completely ridiculous.

So my question: I saw mention that if we receive a sequence number for a 1911, but during the NICS check we receive a delay, we will lose our spot as they won't wait for the delay to process.

Is this the policy? If so, I want to offer my objections because there is no way for us, as CMP customers, to control the unpredictable, thoroughly maddening, totally bureaucratic and mind-numbingly stupid Federal Government.

Since CMP 1911 is giving any orders 30 days to come off delay, I would think that would give plenty of time to clear....especially with your UPIN included.

Ahh..ok. That's great to know. My delays have never lasted more than five days.

A lot of people get delays.
Good question.

I would think, after everything we have to submit, CMP will give it a chance for it to proceed, if delayed.

Question Just Curious

Anyone ever get the feeling that there may be those in high enough places that just dont want us to ever actually get one?

Same boat here, I get delayed at least 50% of the time. I haven't got a UPIN yet as SD offers what they call a "Gold Card" CC permit which enables me to present card and walk out with firearm. I believe only valid in SD though so it probably won't help me here. OP, or anyone, why would you get delayed with a UPIN? I thought that was the big reason for getting one?

I once had an issue with delay after delay. This was back in the beginning of the Bavarian carbines. The CMP worked with me until I was able to establish my UPIN and I was able to finally get my carbine, granted this was in-store but in general the people working at the CMP are extremely fair when it comes to things like that, I wouldn't sweat it. I included my UPIN too best of luck to you, I hope you get a great one

The delay happens because a supervisor has to look at it and approve, sometimes only takes an extra 5 minutes sometimes its 24 hrs

Can you get a concealed weapons permit? No NICS check when you buy a gun that way..
