Default 1944 Winchester

Here is my most recent purchase. It is what I believe to be an original untouched 1944 Winchester. It was in my buddies collection for 25+ years. All parts are Winchester.

After the first type 2 bands were made, and screws lost, the later ones were brad or staked on the end of the thread so it could not to be removed, out of the band. As you can see, your screw was not brad so it was removed easy. I think most to all type 3 band screws cannot be removed from the band without stripping threads, messing up the slot and I have seen the welded nut to come off.
As a rule, do not try to fully remove the screw from a type 2 or 3 band.
