Default What do you think about this m1a1 stock

I’m wondering if it’s original usgi, or if any parts are usgi. https://imgur.com/a/WRX6NTL

I believe wood pistol grip is USGI. Rest looks repro.

I agree about the grip. Iím questioning whether some of the metal is legit or nit. I havenít handled many m1a1s so Iím not sure.

Being a carbine newbie: I'd say repro on the baseplate, leather pad/rivets and also the lower pivot hinge (missing the notch)

this might help a little... https://www.rjmilitaria.com/m1a1-par...lectors-guide/

our forum experts will be along shortly

I agree with everyone else's statements, the wood is real but the metal parts all seem to be repro... That being said I'd love to have that highwood stock, I have the other half of it lol.

I don’t see any markings on the butt plate, which would suggest reproduction. Also, looks like the butt plate is cracked.

The whole thing looks jenky. I own two M1A1s and neither look like yours.
The spot in the stock where an IO should be stamped is partially covered by shade. If you can verify that there is a stamped IO in there right before the mag well then the highwood stock is most likely USGI.
As others have stated the pistol grip looks USGI.

One of my books talks about old school repos from the 70s that had a mix of NOS USGI parts and repo parts.

Good luck.

Photos show "IO" .
That butt plate is all wrong as noted.

Good example of a weapon that could snooker an unsuspecting novice carbine collector.
