presidentg brings up a good point.
Did you cock the hammer/pull the bolt open.

The bolt only cocks the hammer, nothing directly to do with the air pressure.
The air is charged/pressurized when you pump the lever.

However, I think the reason for opening the bolt/cocking the hammer, is to remove the pressure of the hammer from the valve. This assures that the valve is closed. If there is a little too much pressure on the valve, the valve could be "slightly" open, allowing the air to leak by, and the air will not be pressurized as much as it should be or at all.

Sorry for not updating.

So when I did my trigger job, I cheated. I just bought a 888 trigger guard, and trigger. Went to home depot, bought a #6X32X3/4" screw, tapped the hole and off I went. Almost feels like I cheated.

I ended up calling Daisy for the broken latch, and explained to them that I just got the air rifle from the CMP.

They sent me a replacement part.

Took apart the air valve and cleaned it out. Had little parts of plastic from the latch going KB

Shoots like a champ again.

thank you everyone for all your help.

Using the 888 trigger guard is easier than drilling the hole at the correct location and angle.

Glad to hear it is working again.

And using the 888 trigger doesn't require grinding the old one down...
