Default Broken Op Rod spring in NEW CMP Special

Hello,
I was in the South store last week and purchased a CMP Special M1. Tonight I disassembled it to grease the correct areas and the Op Rod spring fell out in 4 pieces. How do I resolve this??
Thanks,
/d

Email CS and I'm sure a new one will be on the way...
[email protected]
Or glue the pieces back together....

A little JB Weld will fix anything.
Seriously, e-mail them with pictures of the broken spring and they will replace it for sure.

Years ago I had one that was in a hundred pieces and I called CMP up and they sent me a new one. Also had a stock that the clip latch pin kept coming loose and poping the clip latch out and they sent me a nice replacement stock for it. They'll good at taking care of you.

Contact the custom shop tomorrow they will replace it. You might have to send them the rifle. Operating rods are somewhat unique and they need to make sure it fits properly.

Shouldn't have to send the rifle or the op rod. A Garand recoil spring will fit any Garand op rod. If it doesn't, it not a Garand op rod spring.

I didn't have to send my service grade in when I found a kinked, short and badly worn mainspring in my new to me M1 rifle. I just shot a pic of it and sent it to customer service. took about 2 days for a reply but the reply was that the CMP was getting a replacement on its way.

Another option, since you are likely to get a surplus spring from CMP, is to buy a new one.
Any shooter CMP rifle I get the first thing I do is replace the OpRod spring..and they are cheap. Orion7 makes a good spring!

+1. I keep a few on hand as well as clip latch springs. Orion 7 springs are top notch.
