Default What rifle do you shoot at CMP small bore match

Looking to buy a small bore rifle that could be used in a CMP small bore match. What are you shooting? What is allowed?

Rim fire sporter is probably the easiest as far as rules go. It's been a while since I read the rules so don't take it work for word.
Rifle, with sights/optics/one mag attached 7.5lbs max. Trigger 3.0lbs min. Sling swivel must be in a fixed position. Optics are 6x max and will be taped at 6x max for those with greater MagX.

The 10 ring is pretty big 1.7" if I remember so you need not get silly. IIRC aperture style target sights get lumped in with optics class.
There's also a tactical rim fire class. I don't know how this class runs other than a place for the AR style 22s to play.
After that you need to down load a copy of the cmp rules.

If you have good eyes I suggest an auto loader with iron sights. That combination will maximize your chance of getting a medal. The cut off score for iron sights is much lower than optics and you only get an extra 5 seconds using a bolt action. I personally use an open sight CZ bolt action but I like the challenge. There are many Ruger 10/22s that are scoped on the firing line but most have been modified in some way.

CMP Smallbore is not Rimfire Sporter they are separate matches listed separately on the match schedule. CMP Smallbore is new at Camp Perry and is probably designed to replace the NRA Smallbore matches that have been moved from Perry:

My guess is rules, equipment, and matches will replicate NRA Smallbore.
Probably a good start here:

For the record Rimfire Sporter great fun.

Is there a slot for a Senior shooting a CMP 40X single shot? And what are the requirements?
