I stopped in at the NS on Friday and came home with a Rock Island 1903. It appears to be a nice mixmaster rifle but I found the buttplate stippled, barrel with pipe wrench marks and a punch mark next to the serial number which are supposed to be traits that one would find on a USMC rebuild. The rifle dates to 1920 but the barrel is a RIA 11-1918 one. The parkerizing is a light grey in color. It sits in a S stock with RIA/FK stamp on it. The bolt is marked CC which should be a WWII replacement but no other markings on it. It was inspected at the CMP by Armorer #11. Can any of the experts help me determine if this is a USMC rebuild or is it just a nice mixmaster?

Jim
