Last of the Cheap CMP Surplus Ammo - Sad

Wouldn't one of the established manufacturers wet themselves with the opportunity to supply ammo to the CMP if asked to do so by CMP? You would think Hornady could make a target grade version of their match M1 ammo and sell it at bulk purchase price to the program. I assume the CMP has been looking into this.

The risk to the CMP and the manufacturer would be the discovery of another ammo bunker filled floor to ceiling with surplus 30-06 the sale of which will make the probably more expensive new manufactured ammo the ugly girl at the dance.

There was mention on a thread on the old forum.
Don't remember if the quote was from the GCA meeting or from Orest himself, but it was hinted that a commercial ammo maker was (being) approached.

You may want to ask Orest if he looked into that bunker next to the latest one with the HXP. Maybe it was M1's and not souvlaki.

Sounds like a possibilty, after ammo prices finally crash. Which , incidently , is already happening in the AR & AK community. Of course , as long as any significant hoards of decent 30'06 surplus are available , it's not likely to happen.

I thought I remember Orest saying that as well as the Match ammo, they were looking to get involved with a commercial mfg for "plinking" M2 ball.
So I would say that m2 match ammo on the website now doesn't fill that line of discussion.

I also took that over and above the rumors of more HXP coming , which we now know to be true.
