Received my two this weekend...

The first one has a sizable gap between the blade and guard. Is this normal?

Go back and review post #110 of this thread. Bayonet describes this...not uncommon!

That is distracting. Is the guard tight to the blade?

Yeah, I don't care for it. The handle is tight and so is the guard, it just looks funny.

It must have been a hit and miss kind of thing...I received two and they both have no gap. I would think with modern manufacturing the tolerances would be tight enough to get better consistency in the final product. Oh well...I guess it's good enough for government work! lol

I ordered four across two orders along with some of the other bayonets. The worst one was well used with much of the phosphate coating rubbed off, and very sandy. Its scabbard has a broken snap on the back. The other three range from little use to one that I am pretty sure was not issued. The elastic band is still tight on it. Two of them have a small gap on the guard, but it doesn't bother me. I've noticed that they used two different grinds on the blade as well across the four I have. One style is thinner at the point than the other style.

I'd order more as they are a steal, but I worry that I've run my luck out based on what I've gotten so far.

I am going to see if the local alteration shop run by a old Croatian lady is willing and able to sew on new elastic bands and fix the one broken snap.

USRO sent me a prepaid label today, so back it goes.

Got the replacement bayonet today:

Remember: I bought a bayonet without sheath and they sent me a serviceable sheath - other than some wear, the only defect is a frayed guard strap. Blade is in good shape, but the whole thing has the usual fine sand impregnated throughout. The writeup and a pic of the bayo I sent back are here.

Very happy with URSO's response on this one.
