While waiting to pick-up a nice rebuilt Rock-ola from a local shop, I noticed a yellow box of Carbine ammo on the shelf. It was produced by Universal. The shop owner ended-up letting me have it for free for my old ammo display shelf.
The head stamps are marked 1957, .30, and NVC (or something like that - don't have it in front of me. Anyone know the history of this ammo and Universals involvement? Thanks. |

NWM is good ammo. Dutch ammo and I have a bandoleer full of it.
NVC should just be used for display. 1957 seems a little early but it would be North Vietnamese. Likely made in China. NIC is Norinco and I'd rather not use it.

I'll probably just use it for display. I have plenty of other ammo to shoot. |

Could be. Many companies repackage ammo.

I think 57 would have been too early for Universal to have started their own ammo line. More likely in the 1960,s. I would hazard a guess that someone just used the box and placed the Dutch ammo in it.

I have a few boxes of Universal Carbine manufactured ammo from 1967. They were made in Germany. The ones I have fired were flawless after 50 years of storage.
