The $40 hardbacks: "minuscule rust spots due to long-term storage. They clean up looking like new."
The $90 splits: "No rust spots"
I had to risk rust spots...

Absolute great deal! You will never find USGI hard back mags again for $40 in the original wrap.

Be advised.

I am aware of this product.

Take a look at the pic of the wrapper and notice the rust marks.

Each place or spot was where it rusted on the mag.

The mags do clean up, BUT each rust spot is not surface rust and under the rust is a small pit.

These $40 mags are a GREAT value and Super nice for mags that will be used and shot.

They are however not collector quality mags.

I removed the rust spots with my fingernail then touched up the spots with cold blue.

Not perfect but better than a rust spot or a white spot when the rust is removed.

At $40, I believe you will be pleased with these mags!

What the heck, took a chance on two of them. Dupage has been good to me in the past. Besides, it gave me an excuse to throw in a NM marked op rod that I had been eyeing

The seller likely culls the mags. No rust = $90. Rust =$40.

The 90$ ones are split backs not hardbacks

You are correct. I missed that detail. I will edit post.

I recently got my NOS NIW SEY HARDBACKS from another seller. He is sold out now.

3 for $180 shipped.

2 were mint and spotless and 1 was rusted just like the dupage pic. Exactly like the dupage pics show.

At first I thought the rust would wipe off with some #9 and CLP.

It kinda did until I looked at it in some better lighting.

Thats when I scraped it off with my fingernail and found the small pit under each spot.

Perhaps, there is a chance of getting "spotless" ones from dupage???

Waiting for the updates when you get yours. Well worth $40 even rusted as shown!!!!!

Anytime you open a 70+ year old time capsule you take a chance on condition. I'll see what I get and report back...seems like a reasonable risk!!
