I wouldn't think those stock marks were there when its was presented.
I wondered if some of the grandkids played "sojer" with it!

Perhaps the bidders only needed a few pictures? Maybe they didn't need pictures as they already had the information necessary to vet this item.

RIA is more than accommodating when it comes to pictures. Can't get them to take it apart or provide an ME, but they can pretty much create a 3D representation of a carbine or whatever. Another option is finding someone in the area to do some recon. IIRC, there was/is a service for such things.

The most valuable commodity I know of is information. Wouldn't you agree?

My 5.4 is a dead ringer for that carbine the only difference being an HI stock set instead of OI.

There is no way a gun that the plant manager got would be worth more than $3k and a 17.5% buyers premium.

To some people, $28K is pocket change.

Well evidently at least two bidders say it is worth well over 20k.

He was not a plant manager, he was the General Manager of Inland, which had several plants producing many parts and items for the war effort.

From the limited knowledge I have of him I would say several museums might have been interested in that particular presentation carbine. If a museum wants it I am sure a few "deep pockets" would be interested as well.
