WOW!! I can only say, WOW!!
This weekend I attended the CMP Marksmanship 101 class at the ISRA range. Holy crap was it great! The course was taught by Steve from CMP and two U.S. Army Marksmen. I learned more in that class than I ever taught myself in 40 years of shooting.
These guys really had their $hit together and their game on. They were genuinely nice people and very committed to teaching the class. They answered every question clearly and completely, never appearing bored or tired of answering the same questions they answered probably a thousand times. They freely demonstrated and explained their skills and shared their knowledge.
Then there were the other CMP staff such as Amy Cantou from the North Store who had everything organized every step of the way. They were amazing and bent over backwards to help anyone and everyone. They made what could easily have been FUBAR, a smooth and painless operation.
Finally, there were the volunteers from the Illinois Rifle Association Range who anticipated every step of the process and assisted in any way they could. Their range is second to none I have ever seen.
All around, a class operation. An event that when next held, will see my wife, my son and my grandson as students and me sitting there as chauffeur and all around happy guy.
I an a retired LEO with 37 years at a very large department. This was by far, the best and most organized shooting experience I have experienced.
THANK YOU CMP!
