Default $2 Million Worth of Guns Stolen from Safe

http://www.rgj.com/article/20110208/NEWS13/110208003

I'd love to know what they were. How do you get $2 million worth of guns in one safe. Both gold plated Luger .45 ACP's?
Do you realize how many $1000 fancy 1911's or Customized Glocks that would be? The math would indicate 2000 guns. So, it has to be a very few REALLY nice antiques or that is one HONKER of a safe in that guy's home.

May have been some of those pricey, engraved shot guns. That only the upper 2% can afford. They can go for $50,000 & up, a pop. It well may have been just a dozen or two.
I'm sorry to hear about it.

Here's another here in NC- much smaller amount. Thieves pull the gun safe right through the home.

If you price some of the high end double rifles you'll find they can get pretty pricy as well.

Seems like there have been a number of thefts like this. Might be interesting to find out if these people are on any "forums" where they talk about their collections. And if there are any connections to the forums and the thefts.

I would be interested in finding out who manufactured that safe in the NC burglary. While the safe was successfully removed from the house, evidently the safe was not forced open by the thieves.

I wonder how the poor contents of the safe fared after being dragged through the house & then a field? Everything smashing around inside. Might of turned some correct/collector types into rack/field types.
At least they didn't get em.

I learned a while back not to believe what I read in the papers. Perhaps the number was inflated! I would personally wonder what the owner was thinking without better security. If he indeed had a 2 million dollar collection I would think he might have had a home worth a little more.

Just speculation on my part but thought provoking for anyone with any collection!

I wonder what the limits of the owner's homeowner's insurance were?
