Default WC 820 Load for 30 Carbine Using Magnum Primer

I am new to reloading 30 Carbine. Any problems with a 110 grain FMJ on top of 13.5 grains of WC820 with a magnum primer. I am using a magnum primer because I have a bunch of them and the powder is surplus from Gibrass. Any thoughts are welcome.

I use that same load with standard primers. I would backoff a few tenths if I were loading SRM primers and work back up to 13.5 if all looks well.

Magnum primers are not needed in the carbine and can cause a loss of velosity compared to standard small rifle primers. Group size may also increase with the magnum primers. It doesn't matter if the powder is surplus or not you won't get the best from your carbine.

for what its worth, I also have some 820 pull down powder and 110g pull down bullets. I have been loading them with 15 grain of powder, with standard primers. I started at 13g and worked up to 15g. I was going for the best group, and 15g did the trick. so you may want to experiment some. I think the pull down powders lose a little punch over time. if I had "new" powder, I'm sure it would be less than 15g. HTH.
