Default Daisy 853 barrel weight question

Has anyone ever shot their stock 853 for accuracy with & without the heavy weight on the barrel end?...My son is 10 and the rifle still seems a bit heavy for him...Would removing the weight make a drastic difference?....We just received the rifle from the CMP and it looks great....

Thanks

I am told that the rifle barrel on the 853 is a Walther barrell and is the main factor in its accuracy; That additional muzzle weight may not be be a problem for your son when he is slinged-up correctly and will improve his sight alignment technique, accuracy and confidence.

However, to actualluy answer your question, I have not seen anything about shooting it w/o the weight.

We'll pull the front sights and mount scopes on these for silhouette in 4-H. No problem ... still will shoot 1 hole 5 shot groups in paper at 10m
