Default Barrel markings

My 1911 manufactured in 1944 and rebuilt in 8/76 at the Anniston Depot has a barrel with the markings of S on the left side of the barrel lug and also an F on the other side of the slide stop hole, same side as the S. They read S F as viewed face on.

Any ideas on what this is? Flannery, Springfield? Coolsite.com isn't clear on this combo. The finish on the barrel is flat black and looks new as does the gun.

Thanks for your ideas.

My Jan 45 RR was rebuilt the same month at Anniston (8-76). Looks like your according to the description. Could the F be a worn P? Might be a Springfield if it is.

It's most likely a SPRINGFIELD ARMORY (S P) used from serial #127,000 - 127,978 and between the two world wars.

If it had the HEAT LOT (example REP 1) above the lug marked S P, it would be WWII until mid-1943.
