What are the odds that this stock is the original arsenal rework to my rifle at the Augusta Armory. Or is it just a random stock added after it left the military?

If so you have a S'G'.
If the SG is laying on it's right side....... You have SG.

Either way, stock was likely made by Robert Irwin Co.
Profile sure looks like it.

Is that a groove behind front sight blade ?

Enjoy your carbine..
Confirmed it is an SG. Thanks for helping ID this stock!

The front sight is ridged, not grooved (looked again closer and it DOES have groves). Not sure of front sight manufacturer. It has no markings.

I noticed on the top of the barrel, a few inches up from the receiver, is a "3". Any ideas on what this marking is?
Thanks

Maybe it's a bomb (Ordnance inspector stamp). Sometimes they look like "8" (or maybe "3") and are not as obvious as Underwood's flaming bomb.

Werra,
I also have a no date Marlin barrel on a NPM. It also has a number 3 on top of the barrel about 1/2 way between the chamber and the gas cylinder. Right side, above the gas cylinder is a Bomb, left side a number 1 OR the letter I.... Not sure which. Also on the bottom barrel flat near the piston is either the letter O or possibly a Round Bomb stamp... Again not sure.
I assume the 3 may refer to a shop location, shift, batch or inspector.
I have this link where I was asking some questions about the frt sight but it includes pictures of the described above:

Have you looked closely on the top ridge of your frt sight for letters?
Possibly stamped sideways ?

Cheers,
Charlie-Painter777

PS: No way to know if your stock is the same from rebuild.
Sure you can't see small RSG letters in the top of the left slingwell ?

Thanks for your post!

I looked for a letter on the front sight and canít find one. I did, however see that Iít does have grooves. I did not see them before. Not sure of the significance of that.
I also could not find any additional marking in the left slingwell.

Looking closely, it is definitely a 3.
