Elmer Balance coined the term and company Sringfield armory when he made the M1A in Texas. He sold the company to the Reese brothers. I think Elmer is still alive. R.I.P Mr. Reese.

Bob really helped so many aquire the M14 rifle they used in the service when no other option was available. For that he will be well remembered.

Interesting coincidence I just heard today that Springfield Armory, Inc. is moving out of the State of Illinois thanks to recent legislation signed in law by the governor that imposes massive fees on manufacturers and FFL holders to continue doing business.

He sure turned his business into a passion for many people. I bought an M1A from them a couple of years ago, & when I unboxed it, it was one of the best lookin rifles I had ever seen. My condolences to the Reese family, & I hope they carry on the family tradition for a long, long time.

After reading the obit, Iím thinking Elmer Balance, of Devine, Texas, would have something to say about just who founded Springfield Armory Inc.!
