Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. After a lot of research, I went with the Hogue 1911 Govt. Model Walnut Authentic Repro., Checkered Panels

These are the closest I could find to the originals. Most of the ones I looked at, especially Colt ones, had the ambidextrous cutout. I know some of you out there think it's sacrilege to put reproductions on a 1911 but I just couldn't afford the $250-300 cost of originals after spending $950 on the pistol. I'll keep the Keyes grips that came with the pistol in the case.

Doug Turnbull does a fantastic job of restoring 1911 and other firearms to factory new condition. I don't know if he sells parts but his 1911 grip panels are spot on original looking reproductions. Call him and ask, can't hurt.

Craig Spegal grips are fantastic and I have them on all of my 1911 pistols. Some companies have them in stock if you want them right away.
