Default Modern Military match ruling

Is an AR-15 quad-rail handguard legal in the Modern Military class at the CMP travel games ?

I'd assume about anything is legal...hell my 68 yr old FN49 was ruled "modern" .. if old is modern I'd guess current issue is also modern.

As long as it is the older KAC style that replaces the plastic handguards you should be fine. Anything that is freefloated i believe is a no go.

Non free floats is the way it should be.. I shot the Talledega 600 a month ago, the modern mil match was won by a guy shooting a free floating AR. He said they let him because the new 2018 rule book is going to say free floats are allowed now. I just looked at the rule book and its saying the same as last year. No Accurizing allowed. So this year looks as confusing as last year.

I think if the CMP wants to keep up their participation rates they will have to allow free float handguards. Everybody and their brother has an AR-15 with such a handguard, whether quadrail, keymod or m-lock.

Where did you find the 2018 rule book ?

And free float tubes on SR targets will make it purely a standing match with some prone stages. As it is people are doing all they can to stuff as much steel under the hand guard and make weight with an optic on top.

Just clear the dance floor and say " No restrictions whatsoever except training wheels"

These are not matches, they are "games", bring any toy you want.
