From the CMP sales FAQ page.

Q?
How many M1 rifles may I purchase per year?
A.
Purchase of M1 Garand rifles is limited to eight (8) per customer per calendar year - regardless of grades purchased. Any serial numbered item concerning M1 Garands counts towards your 8 M1 Garand limit per calendar year.

The CMP occasionally also conducts other special sales programs as assets become available. These special sales and purchases through the CMP auction site do not count against the above.

Great purchases on both rifles.

I really like the WRA heel stamp.

Default Plantnut's Winchester

Plantnut,
Is the rear site on your Winchester as far to the right as it will go?

I did have the sights pegged to the right. I at first thought I had a Winchester sight as the windage adjustment had small arrows and a w mark (see first link) but I now think it is a Bendix Stromberg sight.

These were used in 1956 timeframe on SA 5.9-6.09 range.

The receiver does have a really nice heel stamp. I recently purchased another Win-13 with an original WRA barrel, but it's receiver heel is more beat up and not as nice color. I'm struggling with which one I like better. :>)

I really want a Winchester SG but there is just no way I can get from NC to AL just to make one purchase. Is there any other way to get ahold of one of those on the racks?

Picking your own from a CMP store is very cool!! But you can obtain what you want from other sources!!

Hey! Who said you have to make just ONE purchase?

No, the only way to get one of those on the racks is to show up in person. You can mail order one from the CMP when they're available for mail order, but right now they aren't. See their M1 Rifle sales page here: http://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/rifle_sales/m1-garand/

Maybe you and some friends and relatives can get together and car pool to the store for your purchases? Otherwise, as T38Carbine said, there are other sources, such as auction sites (GunBroker, etc.), gun shows, pawn shops, etc.

A multi-purchase trip would certainly make it more worth it!

I do think that is an awesome opportunity! I will have to come up with some kind of excuse to head down south.

Thanks for the replies, I'm going to keep watching the store report thread. I think it is really interesting to know what is going through the South store from week to week!
