Default Wra 58 ammo....really bad? ?

Shot some WRA 68 in my "as issued" M1A, chrome WRA barrel, etc. Results were terrible...maybe worse than terrible. Then SB 79 7.62x51 berdan, still pretty bad, then HXP, that was better, then my 125gr TNT handloads...excellent. The WRA 68 has an impressive crimp, (rolled hard into the crimp groove), 44.5grs ball powder and standard 147gr FMJ. It has impressive report and recoil but looks standard to me. Would issue ammo in an issue barrel shoot this bad?? Good Shooting. ...

Can't remember shooting any 7.62 x 51 that old, but when I was shooting GI ammo in the 60s I don't ever remember looking at who made it or a date. Same with the rifles. I had three M14s issued to me before I went to Viet Nam in 67 but never paid any attention to mfg. It was just a tool at the time.

My mistake...it is WRA 68. Just shot [email protected] out of my HB NM M1A......6.5" Also shot 5 from my PSA P10 Carbine and got a 2" group even with it's awful trigger and calling 2 bad shots!! Looks like loading for this bunch is not going to be easy. At least I know what to do with the WRA 68. Good Shooting. ...

Can't remember ever shooting any WRA 68.
I picked up a few dozen surveyed cans of linked RA-68 about 30 years ago and found it to be easily under 2 moa ammo which I shot regularly in my FALs and M14s.
Down to my last few hundred which I have loaded in FAL mags since since the Clinton ban time.
Plenty of spent RA 68 brass which has worked well for me for all these years of re-loading.

I have shot a lot of LC 64 ball years ago, very nice and easy to reload. Even shot some LC 64 in my 40x

Shot several cans of WRA Vietnam era 7.62 M80 in Garand Enbloc's and M14 stripper clips over the years and still have a case of two in the shop. Never had a problem and believe it to be more accurate than the same Lake City made around the same time. May not be the cleanest ammo I've ever shot but was more than equal to most 7.62 NATO I've shot.
