That is why I told you to find someone with the 10 stocks collecting dust, to switch out. I got bolts and have switched with people so they could get one that head spaced correctly. The one in box head spaced better, they got it, I got theirs.

billings is the big city in MT. But yea, it's not like Texas when it comes to the M14

I do think you are a little hung up on looks, if the SA stock fits, use it.

Yes it is. And trust me M1 Garands /m1as are like hens teeth out here. It's not like back East where that stuff is everywhere. I thought I found gold when I found this stock.

I can remember a friend perusing though maybe 200 m14 stocks, I couldn't believe he was taking so much time

I sure wouldn't shoot that rifle like that, maybe you can find the high spots on top where the receiver rides take a straight edge and check the top of the stock where the receiver comes together with the stock and slowly a little at a time sand down the high spot and keep checking the fit
