Default 6.5 Creedmoor

Hey guys! Hope all is well and you guys are getting trigger time!

Iím taking then plunge into 6.5 Creedmoor and have a few questions, considering this is still new.

Should I get brass with large or small primer pockets?
What powder/primer combos are working?
How many firing are cases lasting?

I appreciate your input!

Josh

I have two Bulas in 6.5 and they are working out super for me.

I would go with the small primer pockets. Just adds to the strength of the base and should last longer before pockets expand.

I am using 42 gr of H4350 right now, but Varget has proven to work just as good using 3 gr less powder under 130 gr Berger VLD target bullets.

Welcome to the new M14 loading. So far my test group of cases have been loaded 6 times and they are showing no signs of wear. Even the extraction rims seem to be holding up well.

Thanks Art!

I’m going to build the rifle shortly, of course it’s a Bula. So I need to get my rear in gear on the ammo.

I’m going with the M21 with all of the good ornaments.

Awesome.
I might suggest that you try Federal GMM to start, either 130 Berger or 140 gr smk. Both are super and will give you some brass to start.

For those who have gone to 6.5 Creedmore, what distances are you shooting ?

I am interested in accuracy at 800 and 1000 yds if you have done that in this caliber with a M1A.

Only 3 hundred for me. I do have access to a 1200 yd range but no interest at this time. My friends even offered me a 4 wheeler to run out and back.
I will stick with the .5 moa at my itty bitty short range.
Hopefully I will never have to engage a bad guy at over 100.

Art, you accuracy at 300 yds is now .5 MOA by caliber change to 6.5 Creedmoor ? This is a stock M1A with iron sights ? Thank you for any response.

Negative. This is a custom built Bula Defense Systems XM21 in a JAE chassis.
Optic is a Leupold MK4 8.5 -25.
The best M14 setup I have in .308 runs right at .75 moa.

1/2 MOA is impressive at 300.
