Default Obviously this is just the begining

My first bolt action rifle in over 30 years. A 1943 1903a3, the best part is it is now my honey's favorite rifle! I appear to be walking a well worn path following in the footsteps of many of you who have gone before me. My first CMP Garand happened in September, the second in October, a Standard Products carbine followed in December and now this awesome one! The knowledge contained in this forum humbles me and educates me constantly, thanks! Due to a strong family related connection the hunt is on for an Eddystone next. Sorry about the lighting in the photos, its cold, dark and snowy here today.

Default SC 1903A3 sporter save, into 1903A4orgery

This is the completed faux 1903A4 I posted about on the forum. Lots of good advice and lucky parts finds enabled me to complete this Smith-Corona rifle myself. That was half the fun, the other half of course is shooting it.

My 1918 Springfield 1903 rifle with a 5-29 SA barrel. The bore is in almost brand new condition.

The rifle originally came with a single heat treat straight-handle bolt, dating to around 1915, that was probably put in the rifle during the 1929 rebarrel. A forum member offered me the curved handle "J5" coded double heat treat bolt for it, and the headspace on it worked out perfectly. A bit on the tight side, which is a good thing!

The rifle is mounted in a WWII-era Keystone C-stock (which was purchased from another forum member) with a WWII-era handguard.

The sling is a Turner 54" National Match M1907 sling that I had them make with brass hardware instead of the usual blackened steel hardware.

The second picture shows the rifle with my P.J. O'Hare rear sight micrometer mounted.

Default Pre-WW1 guns

Here are my WW1 bring back doughboy guns as I like to think of them, top one is a 5-11 RIA. everything seem correct except the Springfield 1908 bolt. Bottom one is my duffle cut 10-15 SA, Everything seems correct on this gun. Both have great bores. Now I just need some "in the white" bayonets for them.

RIA 191991 5-11
