Thumbs up Thank You to Sparx for Outstanding Stock Repair

Recently, I purchased a Model 1903 rifle off Gunbroker from a dealer in Florida. Unfortunately, the dealer chose to ship via the US Postal Service, resulting in the following tragedy:

Thumbs up Thank You to Sparx for Outstanding Stock Repair

So, I had the option of either filing a claim with the Postal Service and surrendering the broken rifle, or getting the stock fixed. Fortunately, I had previously dealt with a Forum member, Sparx (AKA Jim Lisowski), with exceptional stock repair skills. I contacted Sparx and he thought a good repair was possible, so I shipped the stock off to him.

He sent me the following pics of the repair in progress:

Thumbs up Thank You to Sparx for Outstanding Stock Repair

Well, I just received the finished product back from Sparx on Friday, and let me tell you, I am IMPRESSED. The repair is barely noticeable, and the stock is even stronger than it was originally.

Check it out:

My gratitude to Sparx for literally returning this 100-year old stock from the dead. The quality and craftsmanship of his work are remarkable indeed. I highly endorse Sparx (Jim) for anyone needing stock repair or refinishing work. He's also great to work with. Kudos!

Wow, just wow.
That is amazing!!
I have an IHC stock with a crack, after seeing that I'll be tickled pink of it turns out half as nice as that.

That's an excellent repair. Do you know what kind of glue/epoxy he used? The repair is basically unnoticeable.

Sorry, Craftsman, not sure about the type of glue/epoxy Sparx used. But I do know that he used a brass 2" 8/32 screw for the repair...

I opened the pics in reverse order thinking "I'll see if I can spot this". No way.
Then straight to the before pics. Just wow!
Sparx has skills, and I'll bet a full PM box soon too.

Great Job Sparx!

I think the USPS deserves some recognition here as well. That sort of damage is well above the skill level of your average bumbling moron . . . it takes a bumbling moron with skill, experience and serious determination.

Even though you may not approve of STUPID, ya' have to acknowledge those who've developed it to a fine art.
