These boat anchors need a rope included.

Depending on your skill level many of these can be turned into seviceable rifles for less than a comparable complete rifle would cost. Dupage did indicate the pictured one was the worse of the lot as far as the cutoff weld was concerned. A barrel, a bolt body or complete bolt, some work careful with a Dremel diamond wheel. Trouble is, it's a crap shoot what you'll get and how bad the welds will be.

Remember that all the 1903A3 replicas out there were previous drill rifles just like those. I have personally recovered 3 drill rifles into serviceable rifles with good success. In fact 100% success. So, some are worthy of more than becoming boat anchors with a rope attached. You just have to understand the odds you might get one that's not recoverable.

I picked up a drill rifle from Liberty Tree Collectors. It turned out to be in decent shape, now I have a A3 to go with my 1903 after a new barrel and bolt. I have been waffling on grabbing on from Dupage. I've always had decent luck with them.

Took a little doing but finally clapped hands on Dupage drill rifle. I think it will work out just fine. Everything is here and not in bad shape saving the butt plate which has been roughly grounded by untold hundreds of ROTC cadets. Front sight isn't even bent. May let you know how it goes from time to time.

Not as bad as I thought. Nothing above or below just at each end. Barrel isn't horrible either. May start the grinding process soon.

Barrel and SN July 43. What a sad waste of a good rifle. Guess we shall see what can be done.
