Default Posting a couple gratuitous pics of my wild caught M1A1

I've been looking but so far can't find anything even close to add to my one item collection of Paratroopers. Are these excellent condition originals extinct now?

I am beginning to think I may never see another one.

Here are pictures of the Carbine I picked up at the South Store last Friday. It is a Service Grade, National Postal Meter with an Underwood barrel.

I assumed the barrel was a replacement; but, after reading up a bit, I found that NPM didn't make their own barrels and that Underwood indeed made barrels for National Postal Meter. So, it could be original.

The stock was what initially drew me to this carbine over the others. It had a nicely struck boxed SA / SHM inspector's marking beside and equally nicely struck cross cannon marking.

It has the rotary safety, adjustable rear site and barrel band with bayonet lug. It also appears to have been reparkerized. The barrel is not in the white.

The trigger housing is Underwood and the slide is Winchester. I can't identify any other parts.

It is only my second carbine and my first CMP carbine. I couldn't be more thrilled.

My rock-ola carbine given to me by my grandfather before he passed. Its a rock-ola with a matching barrel. trigger group and op rod are rockola. stock appears to be an arsenal rebuild and im fairly certain the bolt isnt rockola. also doubt the sights are original but im no expert.

I finally got around to taking a beauty shot. Plus, brought out the other milsurps for a family portrait with their respective bayonets.

Inland 5-digit. More details here.
