Default Help with SA GAW stock

Hey everyone was looking for some opinions on this stock. I got my SA service grade, #365xxx, a couple weeks back but havenít had much time to play with her since my son was born! Anyways, this is the stock thst she came in and I was pleasantly surprised to see a GAW cartouche. I canít make out much of any cannons though, looks like just a small circle from what I can see. Only other stamp is the circled P with serifs. Coming from the CMP I take it thst this is an authentic GAW?

Is it possible to clean this up to see the stamps more clearly?

Would it lessen the value to send it away to get it restamped?

Do not under any circumstances restamp. You will only turn a nice genuine USGI stock into a piece of wood. Sure fire way to kill its value. JMHO. bruce.

Thanks I appreciate the input Bruce. Do you feel thereís anyway to bring out the stamp and is there much value to this stock? I have a 2.4 SA that Iíd like to put it on.

Gently clean with BLO or PTO then applying a few coats of either should enhance the stamp. Need to see pics of the entire stock to determine value.
