Default Help WRA (SG) info...

Got this from CMP over Christmas...

Winchester service grade carbine. The only thing I noticed that was different is that the serial number is stamped in front of the rear sight also.

Looks great, took picture of all the marking... help with info on it?

Your "luck of the draw" was a winner. You should go play the lottery! Looks like most of it is Winchester. Have you had time to complete the data sheet yet?

Riesch p. 25: "3) On some carbines, the serial number was duplicated in front of the
rear sight. This was done durring rebuilding only if the addition of the
adjustable rear sight covered the original serial nember."

Winchester 1070xxx serial looks to be about April 1943. The slide looks odd- could not make it out- looked like P N? not sure what that is. All the rest looks like Winchester stuff- good one.

Great looking Winchester! I have heard of several serial numbers in front of rear sight. I have a Quality H. service grade with the serial number re-struck behind the rear sight. I have not been able to verify if it is factory, rebuild or some guy out in the woods trying to be able to read his serial number. Any thoughts?

Looks like a spring tube receiver. And almost all Winchester. Very nice carbine. Was this a normal service grade carbine or a Bavarian Rural Policy carbine?

Just a regular Winchester service grade that I ordered couple months back.

That was my other question, what time range was the spring-tube receivers used? And was it a WRA only?

Oh, what data sheet? This is only my second carbine... not on the up-and-up on it yet.

Thanks,

~dpc
