Anyone have an idea when the cmp will have more 30-06 ammo?

Everybody's out. And those that aren't are charging way too much, thanks to those that are willing to pay too much.
This has happened before, many times. Ammo prices will drop and become readily available again. If people stop paying outrageous prices, outrageous prices will stop. |

I'm a bit surprised we aren't seeing Sellier&Bellot 30.06 that CMP once sold which was pretty good ammo and was disappointed when they stopped selling it. I can't seem to imagine that foreign made ammo is experiencing the same component shortage and panic buying we are seeing here. Where is all the PPU 30.06 that was once readily available?
Since 30.06 doesn't seem as popular as it once was, U.S. manufacturers may be more focused on more current popular ammo. Unless Creedmoor starts producing more 30.06, we might be in for a long wait at CMP.

When an ammo crunch happens, people buy what they can. If they have a 410, they buy 410, and much more than they normally would buy because there is concern about whether they can get it in the future. Same with other calibers. As to the manufactures, to the extent they can shift from 30-06 or 270, etc. to 308 or 5.56, I expect they do so, since those are more popular calibers. Same with pistol calibers. If it works that way, then supply of "less" popular calibers decreases, while demand increases. And they can't just add production capacity.
As to European ammo, powder, primers, brass, lead, copper, etc. are commodities. It doesn't matter where / who supplies the commodities, when demand increases, price increases. And when there is a shift in the demand curve and/or the supply curve (like now), prices increase more. |

I can find .308 and 5.56 but no 30/06. I would have thought it the other way around.

Sellier and Belliot have nothing new on their web site since 9/2020.
"working hard to ship product with Covid 19 effects to market, blah, blah, blah " Still list M1 Garand round as one of their products. No real helpful information about whether they will be shipping more to US to make up for shortage of product from US manufacturers. ![]() |
