Default 52c value

I asked this over on rim fire central but thought I'd ask you guys too. A friend of mine is interested in selling this rifle. I'm interested in purchasing it. Neither of has an idea of the value.
This is just for the rifle, no sights or the scope.
The scope is a unertl 24x. I figure that's probably 850 or 900 for the scope alone?

Is it me, or is there quite a bit of pitting on that rifle?
If it isn't an early Pre-A , I don't think I'm interested in anything except the D's and E's, unfortunately my D has the C trigger. The later models got better.

I think I would pass at the numbers you mention, and look for one later and nicer finish.

Others may disagree, I would understand since I already have 2.

It is a 1956 C model. A lot of that is surface but I would suspect some pitting underneath some of those spots.

If its got a Kenyon in it it's worth $500 more than the Avg C costs.

What size Unertl tube?

Tube dia 3/4 or 1". Sound like a BR Unertl large dia bell 1" scope. I would take a good look at trigger that matters a bunch.

$1000 if gun is really nice shape,

Scope: depends on mounts and it they are in good working order 3/4"tube more desirable if in really nice shape.

Of course the lighter barrel in models matters to how your shooting it. If you slinging up the D or E is a bear.

Like the 40X standard for slinging with Irons
my 1922 1903 USMC clone with unertl.

Its a 1" tube, 2" bell target scope. The trigger is stock winchester.

C is more suited for Irons to me. Be worth more if it had 3/4" tube Unertl or Lyman.

What I would pay or another depends on the guy I reckon.

With freckling on scope and rifle i might entertain $1250. $600-700 for rifle if it shot well at 100yd with Irons.

The picture shows a POSA base. You could buy one for less than $1,000 that will be in V.G. condition right now.
