I have been wanting a mark4 for awhile and of course wanted a US marked savage. I recently acquired one with a great 2 groove bore and bayonet. I believe it is a post war Canadian Refurb that still has som cosmoline I have to clean out. I love the story of these rifles being made in the US for England and ending back up in North America. The receiver is a 1942 marked Savage but not 100% sure if the serial number is original or a re Arsenal http://imgur.com/a/UCJLA41

Welcome. and glad you are posting a nice Savage .303 Mk4.
I have one and love the design with American made quality. Your pics, although good are a jumble to me. Savage marked most major parts with an S and you should show any LB markings clearly in some sort of order. |

Thanks for the pics. That is a nice looking Enfield. I have always wanted a Savage No.4 and was lucky enough to find one on the forum. I can only hope mine looks half as good as yours.
Have fun with it ! |

Nice looking rifle! Savage marked virtually every part with an block S or a boxed S. The from what I can see the stock, trigger guard, magazine, and possibly the rear sight, safety and the bolt are not Savage. The lower sling loop is Savage.
The serial number seems off. It's much larger font than normal and I've never seen one that started with just C. They normally have one or two numbers before the letter. I have an original condition Savage also from 1942. The serial number is and is 32C9318 and is much smaller. Edit: Here's a listing of Savage serial numbers: 0C1 - 1941 MKI lowest # 1941 date 0C2804 - 1941 MKI highest # 1941 date 0C3870 - 1942 MKI lowest # 1942 date 13C2752 - 1942 MKI highest MKI # 1942 date 13C2845 - 1942 MKI* lowest MKI* # 1942 date 36C1916 - 1942 MKI* highest MKI* # 1942 date 38C2632 - 1943 lowest MKI* # 1943 date 60C7797 - 1943 highest MKI* # 1943 date 51C7693 - no date lowest MKI* # with no date 0C63110 - no date highest MKI* # with no date Last edited by Farmer-Ted; 02-25-2021 at 02:28 AM. |

Many experts on the Gunboards Forum in the Enfield section. I have a 03C from South Africa which makes it a "no asterisk".

Thanks Farmer Ted for the additional info on serials.
OP's rifle certainly has more markings than I'm aware of from the LB rebuild. Not my area of study at all. So in addition to the Gunboards link suggested above, the milsurps.com forum https://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=111 or most likely here https://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=111 has experts and authors as well to explain this nice rifle. Looking forward to our education! |

Any idea when 76C76xx would have been made. No date, what looks like a 3 or a poorly struck B underneath the serial#. Matching bolt. All S marked parts, no import marks.
