Reminds me of an old Fire Captain, who liked to say "Put a Fireman in a sealed rubber room with two ball bearings for an hour. He will emerge with one broken, and the other one lost".

Not sure why once pinned in place you would remove it again. The band slips right over it .

Check at Century Arms. They have some 1917 parts now. Look under the Surplus heading on their site.
