I got two letters via email, one for the CMP 1911A1 and one for a 1911 that I've had for 30 years. Both letters are identical except for the serial numbers, both are are identified as 1911A1 pistols with identical NSN's, and both requests from May 10, 2020. Here's what they said:
"Upon a good faith search of its records, using methods through which a knowledgeable person could reasonably expect to find data, the U.S. Army Materiel Command Logistics Data Analysis Center indicates that it has no records responsive to your request. For any further assistance or to discuss any aspect of your request, you have the right to contact the Army FOIA Public Liaison Officer, Alecia Bolling, by email at usarmy.hqda-oaa-ahs.mbx.rmda-foia-pu...aison@mail.mil or by phone at (703) 428- 6238. Additionally, you may contact the Office of Government Information Services (OGIS) at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to inquire about the FOIA mediation services they offer. The contact information for OGIS is as follows: NARA-OGIS, 8601 Adelphi Road-OGIS, College Park, MD 20740-6001, email at ogis@nara.gov, telephone number at (202) 741-5570, toll free at (877) 684-6448, or facsimile at (202) 741-5769. You also have the right to appeal to the Secretary of the Army. The Commanding General, U.S. Army Materiel Command, is the Initial Denial Authority, and by position, I have been delegated as the Initial Denial Authority. You should send your appeal to this office for forwarding to the Army General Counsel, the designated Army FOIA appellate authority. To meet the deadline for the appeal, the appeal letter must be received by this office and forwarded to the Secretary of the Army within sixty calendar days of the date of this letter. DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY HEADQUARTERS, U.S. ARMY MATERIEL COMMAND 4400 MARTIN ROAD REDSTONE ARESNAL, AL 35898-5000 Please send correspondence to the following address: U.S. Army Materiel Command ATTN: AMCIO-SRR-FOIAO 4400 Martin Road Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898-5000 Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the processing of your request, please contact Miss Mickelle Penn by email at mickelle.a.penn.civ@mail.mil. I find it hard to believe that they didn't even have the transfer of the pistol to CMP on my recent acquisition from there. Hope I didn't get the "bum's rush". I'll try a phone call I guess.
