I happen to have my weapons card from Ft Polk - however, I think I was issued more than one 1911a1 at Polk, but hard to remember from 1981-1983

And would have been issued one from the training folks, one at Schofield Barracks, another at Field Station Kunia, one from Ft Lewis, one from Korea (camp Humphreys), and one from 54th ASG (then 254th BSB) before going to the M9

But the one at Polk I used the most and remember the most.

THAT said, I remember taking the Remington slide off and putting a Colt on it - then thinking I'd get into trouble, put it back before I PCS'd

Instead of looking at your own self interest, try looking at reality. Every 1911/1911A1 in the service was issued many different members of the military. Even if someone still remembered their serial number, there would be several others that were issued that same weapon. Get in line, send in your paperwork like everyone else and take a chance on getting a historic weapon. It must be exhausting to be feeling so entitled.

If I get lucky and am drawn I want one from WW2 or before. I think those odds are the ones that will work out.

No 1911/1911A1 contract since WWII, except for possibly ones and twos for special ops and the various marksmanship units, so your chances are excellent, IF you're drawn.
