Default USMC mag pouch value.

I saw one on a carbine yesterday (hiding a scar on a butt stock) and was told it was a double duty pouch for the .45 mags as well as carbine. Someone pointed out the pleats at the bottom of the mag wells that indicated that. Is that accurate, and what value does a good USMC pouch have?
And why would you want to put .45 mags in a BUTT STOCK mag pouch?

Thank you.

The type1 ''wide loop'' pouches are belt pouches, GI's found out they fit the butt stock too hence the nick name ''butt stock pouch''.

I see. I have so much to learn and so little grey matter left to acquire it.
I was offered the pouch, a frayed GI sling and oiler for $50. Seemed about retail to my untrained mind.

The last one I bought was ten bucks but I think they run a bit more than that.
