Default Iranian surplus ammo pictures

While waiting for my ammo from CMP I ordered some Iranian Surplus.
I have seen very little information about this surplus ammo, but lots of threads on Iranian history and how much we dislike them. So I thought I would share some pictures of the ammo I got.

Here is how it is listed by Samco.
“Manufactured in Iran in 1968 when Iran was a friend and
strong ally of the United States. Brass cases, FMJ, 150 gr.,
Lead core, Non-corrosive, Berdan, Packed Loose, 5 rows
of 200 rds each, 1000 rds in sealed zinc ined wooden case.”

Here is a sample of what I got.

Here is how it shot. (50 yards)

I was using my 1903-A3 that I got from Gibbs.
This group is not great, but its about the best that I can do with open sights.
When using premium ammo and open sights, my groups are not much smaller.
So I was impressed with its accuracy.

On the down side, it did leave my barrel pretty dirty.
Lots of carbon and copper fowling. I fired 50 rounds and it took at least 50 patches and lots of brushing to get my barrel clean.

Thanks for the picture - every time this has come up before people have wondered about the headstamp and I think this is the first time anybody actually posted a picture!

Looks great. I don't think this is reloadble though, but good price and the headstamp is a neat.

Yep, that what I paid for mine.
400 rds for $223.60
And shipping to Texas cost me $30.43

I got it from Samco, and I think the ammo Sportmans guide is selling is the same stuff.

It's not easy to reload, unless you have a special berdian primer removal tool.
Also Berdian primers can be hard to find. The gun stores near me do not stock them.

Also I thought that I would add,
The bullets do not attract a magnet.

Bullets may not attract a magnet, but I've heard they're programed to "Seek out Infidels"
