Default Received my Service Grade today.

So, I hate to be one of the complaining buyers.. and I'm not here to raise a fuss and damn the CMP or anything like that... but... It is an incredibly loose RR over WWI frame with the most slop I have ever seen between a barrel and the bushing. The frame has a tremendous amount of play with the slide, and the slide sits forward on the frame by an 8th of an inch. I would expect this to have been graded rack or field at the least. It is a poor pistol. Wish I had chosen field. One of the reasons I popped for Service Grade was for the shootability.. This is quite disappointing.

I am not new to military 1911s and work in the gun industry. I don't believe I'm being unreasonably critical.

Just kind of want to hear some thoughts from you folk.

Pretty sure the answer is "it is what it is"

Thanks

Add, wow, the slide sits so far forward there is a gap where the fame dust shield meets the back of the slide dust shield.

It can and is considered normal. Whether or not you want one that loose or if they'll replace it is up to you and the CMP. There's a reason they get called "rattle traps".

Nice to see cmp1911admin reached out to you. Me personally I would have contacted the CMP first.

Honestly, as busy as they are, I didn't initially want to bother them as I figured it was really a luck of the draw deal, so I wanted to get input here first.

I just take marksmanship pretty seriously. I don't like owning guns that don't shoot well, and I can't sell this according the regs. I'm not mad or anything.. and am grateful they are taking steps to look at the problem. If they decide to call it a service grade I will live with the decision.

I never saw one any other way FWIW. I think all the freshly rebuilt ones have spoiled people and when a actual pistol that sat in a rack pops out folks get disappointed.

Mines the same way, rattles when you shake it. Just they way some of them are
