Alright, thanks guys. Guess I'll live with it, in truth all examples are not pristine, nor should they be. So, you think this goes all the way back to original manufacture?

That is certainly not uncommon on USGI 1911 and 1911a1 models. That's not what a cracked slide looks like. They are machining/grinder marks. If it were an Ithaca slide, I'd say that was par for the course with their finished slides, but I suspect the RR and Colt folks sent them out that way occasionally also.
