Default Where are the arsenal workers?

Just out of curiosity do we have any members that worked at the various facilities that overhauled the 1911's? It just seems it would be nice to reach out to them about the various ways they marked their products if at all. A lot of these folks should still be around to fill in any small blanks.

I suppose they have more important things on their agenda than swapping tales with us. I had hoped there would have been more folks on the forums that could share these secrets with us. Of course many have been explained but I’d sure like to know more about those MB and M-B stamps.

All things being equal I prefer the horses mouth if possible. If there are ww2 vets still with us there are armory workers still out there too and it would be nice to get their take on what they did with the 1911 overhauls as well as some others.

I would guess that this is like many things - these guys mostly weren't gun guys.

They left the military or the civilian job and aren't on the forums (or they might speak up).

Overall, its probably a couple hundred folks who did the work, perhaps more over the years?

The old Rock Island Arsenal guys that used to be at the old Aledo Gun Show have passed on . There was one named Lou Wall or Wahl. He really knew his M1911's and could tune them for you . A Lou Wall .45 had a better resale value in this area then . Now it's Lou who ?

My brother was in the service (Army) from 1969-72. He was stationed in Okinawa and rebuilt all types of guns. He is not a big computer guy so if you guys have some questions I'll be glad to ask him and post his responses here. I already asked if they placed an arsenal mark and the answer was no.

Maybe a request for first person rebuild information from arsenal workers could be made through VFW or American Legion publications?
