Default Test Message for New Guy

Hello,
tried my first post as a new thread in new member section and didn't seem to post. Maybe it needs to be reviewed and approved before it displays. So will try a test here.

Default Thank you, Broomhandle

Thank you, kind sir.

I noticed your location is listed as Augusta and x NYC guy - Augusta is a long ways from NYC! I never made it to Augusta but numerous times at Benning and Columbus. Do you recommend a visit?

Do you recommend a visit?

Hi Sir,

Augusta has it's good points, big lake about 10 miles out of town (over 1000 miles of shoreline) good food good paying jobs of many types! Almost everyone plays golf or tennis.
Most of the schools are above average, more so in Columbia county. Richmond county schools are on the up swing.
Augusta has it's cultural interests, most people are nice hard working people, tax's are NOTHING compared to NYC & NYS!

Charleston SC & Savanna GA are better fun spots to visit.

I see you mention Benning & Columbus We have a nice range at Ft. Gordon out to 1000 yards. With a little paper work a non military guy can bring his firearms on base & shoot four or five days a week!

Best wishs to you & yours ,
broom

Default Thank you for the Augusta information

Hello Broomhandle,
I love the thought of ranges out to 1000 yards. I can do that with some difficulty but it's quite a long trip, not the sort of thing to do often.
Oh yes, taxes. Being in California I can relate to taxes. I don't think as bad as NYC and NYS but still I can feel fingers in my pockets going for the money.
Thank you, kind sir, for the information. I keep thinking of making a visit to relatives in Virginia and swing by Georgia.

Hi Sir,

I was lucky enough at three SHOT show's in Los Vegas. To get a pass to shoot at two ranges the show, had reserved for people attending the show.
I was told that the average person can just drive out into the desert & shoot anything they have!
Which is a odd thing to see for a guy, from NYC! LOL

If your even in the area, let me know in advance & may be we can make your trip more enjoyable!

Take care,
broom

Thank you, kind sir. I appreciate the offer!

I never made it to the SHOT show. I've heard it is worth a visit - it must be if you went a second time.

About driving out into the desert and shooting - yes, that is often possible. A friend flew to Nevada for an action pistol shoot and had just put together the gun he was going to use but had no time to get to a shooting range to try it out. He told the fellow traveling with him he needed to stop and test fire the pistol for proper functioning. The fellow asks "where are we going to do that?" He said, "we'll pull off the road and try it out." The fellow with him had to mentally recalibrate - you don't just "pull off the road" in California to test fire your pistol - at least I wouldn't try that. But in a lot of Nevada that is no big deal.
