jhud: I left the steel after my test in a very damp place and overnight the side that I popped a known corrosive primer on was badly rusted but nothing on the AYR side. I don't know why your lot that was later than mine would be corrosive. It definately sounds like your cans lost their seal or weren't sealed properly to begin with. I just pulled some random rounds from the cans I got and they were all spotless inside.

Hmm, I have a bunch of USGI surplus 150's.
I think I'm going to remanufacture my AYR 23's so to give everything a thorough inspection and recap with the USGI bullet and stash the AP bullets. This way after inspection i can utilize the brass, primer and powder before they might rot from the inside out. It would go a long way to alleviate the concerns of a catastrophic failure too. |

I am still wondering about reloading the AYR 23... being that ALL of mine if this lot.
I have 22 cans left here that I cannot shoot. I would but wont after the first clip had a round that ruptured on me. So far, 1/20 of the rounds have wet powder.. And the contaminant smells horrible and the brass is corroded inside. That is 5%. |

Andropoff this is a sticky. Bumping it doesn't move it to the top. It is always there. Using a semi educated guess that since all the other AYR lots before it are non-corrosive I would say they all are. Thats my opinion and even if you clean with Hoppes it will still take away any of the corrosive salts left behind.
